Rhode Island (RI) diabetes facts, statistics and death rates:

  • 7.1 out of every 100 adults in Rhode Island has diabetes, ranking it 23rd highest in the nation for the ratio of people with diabetes in the general population.
  • 21.3 out of every adult 100,000 deaths in Rhode Island are due to diabetes; ranking RI as the 42nd lowest state with deaths caused by diabetes.
  • In 2005, 57,000 adults  in Rhode Island were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007, 7% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes.
