Michigan diabetes statistics and death rates:

  • 7.5 out of every 100 adults in Michigan has diabetes, ranking it 7th highest in the nation for the ratio of people with diabetes to the general population.
  • 27.8 out of every adult 100,000 deaths in Michigan are due to diabetes; ranking 16th highest in the number of diabetes deaths in the nation.
  • In 2005, 599,000 Michigan adults were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007 9% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes.
