Massachusetts diabetes statistics and death rates:

  • 5.6 out of every 100 adults in Massachusetts has diabetes, ranking it 41st lowest in the nation for the ratio of people with diabetes to the general population.
  • 20.2 out of every adult 100,000 deaths in Massachusetts are due to diabetes; ranking 46th lowest for diabetes deaths in the nation.
  • In 2005, 298,000 Massachusetts adults were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007 7% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes.
