Maryland diabetes statistics and death rates:

  • 7 out of every 100 adults in Maryland has diabetes, ranking it 15th highest in the nation for the ratio of people with diabetes to the general population.
  • 29.8 out of every adult 100,000 deaths in Maryland are due to diabetes.  Maryland ranks 12th highest in the nation for diabetes-related deaths.
  • In 2005, 299,000 Maryland adults were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007 8% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes.
