District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.) diabetes statistics and death rates:

  • 8.3 out of every 100 adults in District of Columbia has diabetes, ranking it 4th highest in the nation for the ratio of people with diabetes to the general population.
  • 33.9 out of every adult 100,000 deaths in District of Columbia are due to diabetes, ranking District of Columbia 3rd highest in the nation for diabetes-related deaths.
  • In 2005, 35,000 District of Columbia adults were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007 8% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes.
