Alabama (AL) diabetes statistics and diabetes death rates:

  • Alabama ranks #6 worst in the nation for the number of diabetes deaths (32 diabetes-related deaths per 100,000 deaths) each year.

  • Alabama ranks #1 as the state with the highest rate of people with diabetes (8.9 people out of every 100 have diabetes) within total population statistics.

  • In 2005, 305,000 adults were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007 10% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes.  An additional 2% of Alabamans have also been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
