Elizabeth was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of four. After getting her own insulin pump she began urging her mother (iPump's founder, Lahle Wolfe) to start a "helping organization" to get pumps for other children.

Our mission

iPump.org, Inc. was formed for the main purpose of providing assistance to children in need of an insulin pump and diabetes care supplies. As supplies and funds have been available, we have also extended our programs from time to time, to adults with diabetes, and struggling clinics who serve diabetics for free. We do not provide assistance for insulin or medications.

Additionally, we strive to:

  • Educate others about diabetes and diabetes prevention by providing free, online information and support for schools, caregivers, physicians, and diabetes health practitioners, and the general public;
  • Help consumers find resources to resolve legal issues related to health insurance rights to coverage for persons with diabetes; and

  • Give free, handmade quilts to children who have diabetes (you pay for shipping, but the quilts are free).

Who we help

Children are our first priority. However, if we have the resources available at any given time, we will also help adults with diabetes. You can visit our Adult Programs page to see if we are currently able to accept application for adults. Unless we specifically state programs are open to adults, only children are eligible to apply.
