We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill You may serve on more than one committee, and if you are interested in serving as a committee chair, please let us know. The time of service for each committee varies but generally no more than 1-5 hours per month is required. Community Awareness Committee - keeps IPump.org informed about interest trends and needs in the general diabetes community and makes recommendations about development of new web content, features, service program, and publications. Community Liaison Committee - reads public diabetes-related forums and points persons in need (i.e., looking for diabetes support, information, scholarships, health insurance information, legal support, etc.) to Islets of Hope or IPump.org, as is appropriate. Executive Committee - carries out specific tasks, as directed by IPump.org's Board of Directors. Funding Committee - this committee assists in locating and recommending funding resources for IPump.org to pursue. Members are not required to actually generate income for IPump.org Nominations Committee - interviews and recommends potential candidates to fill vacancies on the Board as needed. Patient Protocol Committee - this committee is comprised of health industry professionals that develop and recommend patient protocol for IPump.org clients (i.e., what is the clinical qualifying criteria for a person to receive a pump; how to prioritize patient requests from a medical need standpoint). This committee also recommends and approves patient and physician education materials for web content and printed publications).
Sometimes we have to purchase supplies. Because our funding is so limited we need to use the cheapest sources possible. We have been using Hocks Online for a while and were pleased with their service and prices. Because of our good relationship with Hocks we agreed to accept them as IPump's first affiliate sponsor. While it is not our policy to specifically endorse or recommend any company, we can state that we do use Hocks Online, and that for any order you place through one of their links on our site, they will make a donation to us. Thank you Hocks, for contributing to our cause!
