Nominate Us For An Award or Media Exposure:
- CNN Heroes. According to Joanne Fritz, About.com, "CNN Heroes is the jackpot of media exposure for nonprofits. A new CNN hero is highlighted each Friday, and that coverage is repeated over and over on the CNN news broadcasts. The Hero is interviewed by Larry King, and gets a page on the CNN homepage, CNN's Facebook fan page, and can use all the resulting video on the organization's website. The top 10 heroes of the year are featured in a Thanksgiving "All Star Tribute." This is not to even mention the additional interest that is stirred up in the organization's local press." - NBC/Making a Difference: " Aired on Friday nights on NBC Nightly News. Viewers are invited to share stories of "random or regular acts of kindness." There is a web page for "Making a Difference" and a form visitors can use to "nominate" a story. NBC says it receives thousands of submissions and can pick only a few." (From Joanne Fritz, About.com)
- ABC/Person of the Week: "The ABC news segment features outstanding people in various roles, such as celebrities and well-known athletes, that are helping the community. But many ordinary citizens and nonprofits make the cut as well. There is no nomination process, so it is likely that standard public relations techniques apply." (From Joanne Fritz, About.com)
- The Christian Science Monitor's Making a Difference: "The CSM, now in print once a week and online daily, publishes a series of articles called "Making a Difference." The emphasis is on individuals although many are affiliated with an organization." (From Joanne Fritz, About.com)
