FAQs About iPump and Your DonationsIs iPump tax-exempt? California is one of the few states that does not accept an IRS ruling. To be tax exempt in California requires a separate filing and approval process. We were officially recognized in California as tax exempt in January 2008, retroactive to the date of our incorporation. How come iPump is not listed in some national charity registries? |
Is it legal for me to sell, trade, or give my insulin pump or pump supplies to another individual?
No! Please read our FAQs about how you can be sued or criminally prosecuted for selling (or giving) your insulin pump and pump supplies to someone else, organizations that do not abide by re-distributions laws, and how donating to iPump protects you from legal liability risks.
Why should I support iPump? In a humble nutshell, we are the only organization that does certain things: we provide supplies to struggling clinics and start-up clinics so that more people with diabetes can get free supplies locally; we do not use income formulas but look at each individual applicant's situation; and we are the only nonprofit that currently takes donated pumps and works directly with pump manufacturers to have them repaired and recertified and legally re-distributes to people in need.
Can I get financial reports for iPump? Yes. We post our financial information online. This is not an IRS requirement but we have nothing to hide from the public. We want you to see where your money goes -- we are proud of our spending practices! (See Financial Reports.) |
Madison (above) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just one day after her 1st birthday. She was the first child to receive a comfort quilt from us and her loving grandmother was our very first donor, too! At iPump everyone who submits an application gets individualized attention and a chance to explain why they are having trouble -- we don't just look at income and say "sorry, you make too much." |
Do you take insulin or medications?
No. Unfortunately, we are not licensed to redistributed insulin or medications. Please do not send these items as we are obligated by law to throw them away.
