Tips for valuing your fabric and quilt donations

If you have receipts for any sewing supplies you have donated you can use that to value your donation.  If you do not have receipts you can go online or visit your fabric store to find comparable pricing information.  Be sure to note the source of pricing information you use for your own records.

If you donate a finished quilt (or quilt tops and blocks) you can choose to value to the donation based on the cost of materials OR what the item could be sold for today but you cannot factor in both.  Typically, it is better to place a value on the finished quilt because the cost of supplies used in sewing quilts is less than what the quilt could be sold for.
