We are truly, truly grateful to our many supporters. Without help from others we could not continue giving assistance to diabetics in need. To see who has helped us, which really means, helped those who have received our assistance, please use the links below:
| Why should you help us instead of another organization? |
Nearly 1 in every 523 children and teens in the U.S. has diabetes. Most are non-Hispanic whites with type 1 diabetes. And, 20.8 million people, or 7% of the total population now has diabetes. About 1/3 of all patients with diabetes have no insurance or are underinsured and cannot afford the cost of even the most basic things like test strips. Many of those who come to us for help, like Brooke and her family (see right side bar), have already been turned down by government programs and by other diabetes charities.
Why? Because most organizations and pharmaceutical companies have program restrictions that are based on government standards, strict guidelines and/or whether or not a person has any insurance. Many assistance programs do not take into account how much someone is paying out of pocket for medical care and the hardship that medical expenses can cause. We do.
We also try to help those stuck in the Medicare "doughnut hole."
There may not be a cure for diabetes but today
you can help us in our fight to put an end to one cause of death from diabetes –
the lack of medical care, insulin, and diabetes supplies for those who cannot afford them.

A child no one else would help
Seven-year-old Brooke is 1 of 10 children in her
family. Yet her family was still turned away by other private
organizations and government agencies for assistance.
Her parents were denied help because their income was just over
poverty level and they had some insurance. But even with insurance much of
their income was going to cover medical costs and they had a hard time paying
for insulin and diabetes supplies necessary to keep their daughter
alive.
