Please do not send us expired medical items.

WE KNOW YOU MEAN WELL BUT PLEASE ...

PLEASE DO NOT SEND US expired items, damaged items, or used items (i.e., used meters, lancets, insertion deices.) Per federal and many state laws we cannot give these items away!

To date, we have had to pay more than $1,500 to properly dispose of expired and unusable items sent to us with good intentions. We need all our funds to directly towards helping people in need.

We are extraordinarily grateful to all our wonderful donors!

...But please be advised if you send us expired or unusable items, or items we specifically say we do not accept, we are not able to list them on your tax receipt.

Because we must pay for special disposal of medical supplies, sending us expired and used items does not help people in need - it actually hinders our ability to help them because we must divert funds from helping people to pay for medical waste disposal.

Items we do not accept and will not provide a tax receipt for:

  • Insulin: Insulin or medications. (Check our list of clinics who do take these items.)
  • Medtronic Brands: Medtronic MiniMed Insulin Pumps or Medtronic Brand Pump Supplies (Read why)
  • Cozmo insulin pumps (we can take Cozmo pump supplies) (Read why)
  • Unwrapped Syringes and Pen Needles: Unwrapped syringes and pen needles - they MUST be still sealed in their original packaging or we cannot give them away. Individually wrapped are fine (even if not in the box they came in - but they must be sealed.)
  • Used Insulin Pens: Used insulin pens or injection devices.
  • Expired / Short-Life Expiration Dates: ANY item passed its expiration date OR with less than 90 days left. Items with less than 90 days often cannot be distributed cost effectively since we do not want to ship one person 10 boxes of test strips that expire in one month we would have to ship one or two boxes to multiple clients. Most local clinics can distribute short-life test strips faster that we can.
  • Used Items: Any of the following items that have been used, or are not in their original containers to assure that they are unused: blood glucose monitors, lancing devices, and lancets..
  • Software and User Manuals: Please do not send us software, videos, or instruction manuals for pumps or glucose meters. We receive thousands of these items and we cannot use them.. We are grateful for your compassion, but we generally only ship boxed meters that already have their manuals inside the box. We also do not have a need for "spare" pump manuals and instructions because new books and training manuals are provided by the insulin pump companies when we give out insulin pumps..
