About The Free Quilts for Children With Diabetes Program (QD) The QD program offers free, handmade quilts to children 16 years old or younger. This program is completely self-sustaining thanks to the talents and generosity of others who have donated materials, quilt tops, and finished quilts. While most of our quilt fabrics and sewing materials and many completed handmade quilts are donated, shipping them at our expense has been costly. In the past we simply asked folks to please consider making an optional donation to help cover shipping costs. Unfortunately, out of the 60 people who ordered quilts in 2007 only 4 made a small donation. User Fee (Shipping and Handling Costs). Because our cost to ship quilts in 2007 exceeded $1,000 -- enough to have recertified 2 insulin pumps we now find it necessary to charge a user fee of $20 per quilt. This user fee is intended to help cover the cost of shipping and handling (postage and cost of the mailing containers) - we do not to make any profits from this user fee. The user fee is not tax deductible because you are receiving a service or good that exceeds the amount of the user fee (our quilts are worth more than $20.00). If you send an amount above the user fee then it is considered a donation and will be tax deductible. All fees/donations paid are non-refundable. User fees can be made via our PayPal button on the right or by mailing a check made payable to iPump.org, Inc. - please do not send cash!

General Eligibility

This program is available to help brighten the life of any child age 16 or younger, medically diagnosed with diabetes. Limit one (1) quilt per child. We reserve the exclusive right to refuse any request that appears to be fraudulent or excessive in nature.

How to Request a Quilt

Please be aware that our entire quilting program is run by volunteers. The QD program takes a lot of sewing and time to administer and we are unable to respond to requests for "rush" jobs.

• Quilts can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months to arrive depending upon how many backlog requests we have at any given time.
• We are no longer able to take online, phone, e-mail, or FAX quilt orders. Please print out our Quilt Request Form and send it in the mail to us. You may request one quilt per child with diabetes.

Our quilts are ONLY FOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE DIABETES! Please do not strain this program by trying to "buy" cheap quilts for other purposes.

• We do not take special requests; however, we try hard to keep in mind what you tell us about your child's interests, likes, and dislikes when choosing a quilt to send.
• You may return a quilt if you decide you do not want it; however, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges. Please understand that we are a nonprofit diabetes assistance organization first and not a business.
• Our quilting program is an act of love because we care about children who have diabetes. Our priorities and first mission must be to provide cash and supplies to people with diabetes because they need those things to live.
• We reserve the right to refuse any donation and quilt request if we think it is being made by someone with the purpose of trying to "buy" a cheap quilt for purposes other than a gift for a child with diabetes; or, in any other way is attempting to defraud or mislead our organization.
