About the program This program receives donated, used (or sometimes, new) insulin pumps. Pumps are refurbished and then become available for "adoption" by children aged 20 and younger. There is a $200.00 "placement" fee (but not until you actually receive a pump) to help cover the costs of running this program. Sometimes insurance companies will cover this fee which goes to the insulin pump company to have a pump re-certified (therefore, the fee, if covered by insurance, would be paid to the pump company, not to us). See list of insulin pumps that may be available for "adoption." Eligibility This program is a little unique because there are two basic things involved in qualifying applicants:
Please see our Eligibility Test for more specific information. Please direct all questions about the program to program-director@ipump.org How to apply Instructions: Read "How to apply for assistance through the Insulin Pump Adoption Program for Children (IPAC)" web version printable pdf version Print out and complete the IPAC application, and send to: IPump.org, Inc. - IPAC How long does it take? Note: As of August 7, 2007 there is no waiting list (assuming you are eligible for one of the specific types of pumps we have). We try to give preliminary review to each IPAC application the day that it arrives. Based on the urgency of the situation we process all applications within two weeks of application receipt. Some applications demonstrate a critical need in which case we process faster. Please remember this is all done by volunteer staff. After the application has been accepted it is sent to the IPump.org, Inc. Board of Directors for final review and a vote. We can only place a pump for "adoption" when we have one that specifically matches what your doctor has requested for you. There is no way to tell when a pump will become available. Approved applicants will be put on a wait list if we don't currently have a pump that meets your individual needs. Please read "How to apply for assistance through the Insulin Pump Adoption Program for Children (IPAC) for a step-by-step guide to the application process." Please direct all questions about the program to program-director@ipump.org Disclaimer: Submitting an application is not a promise or guarantee by IPump.org, Inc. that an applicant will be approved. Our ability to help others is restricted by available program funding at any give time. Applications are reviewed by IPump.org's Program Director and CEO, and approved by the board of directors based upon eligibility, need and individual program funding availability. We offer no promises or guarantee that we can meet the needs of all applicants but we try to help as best we can.
Sometimes we have to purchase supplies. Because our funding is so limited we need to use the cheapest sources possible. We have been using Hocks Online for a while and were pleased with their service and prices. Because of our good relationship with Hocks we agreed to accept them as IPump's first affiliate sponsor. While it is not our policy to specifically endorse or recommend any company, we can state that we do use Hocks Online, and that for any order you place through one of their links on our site, they will make a donation to us. Thank you Hocks, for contributing to our cause!
